Aromatawai PLD

Aromatawai is a vehicle that enables effective teaching, learning and assessment in all curriculum areas.
Professional learning underpinned by pakirehua | teaching as inquiry supports leaders of learning to apply an ongoing, cycle of inquiry focused on improvement in school or kura-wide aromatawai practices.
In-depth aromatawai professional learning supports leaders to identify effective aromatawai approaches to address underachievement and support ākonga and their whānau.
When you focus on aromatawai as part of your professional growth, you create opportunities to build internal aromatawai leadership capability and sustainability.
Develop your knowledge of what aromatawai is and how the principles of aromatawai can be enacted. We use Te Poukapa Āheinga mā te Kaiako me te Ākonga as a conceptual framework to bring to life the progressions that both akonga and kaiako make as they embody the principles of aromatawai.
Aromatawai mō te ako – support of pouako and kaiako to partner with learners as active participants in their learning journey. Pouako and kaiako will be supported to improve their aromatawai capability. When we support kura with aromatawai, there is often a link to marau ā-kura and matauranga Māori.
Embedding strong aromatawai practices often includes reviewing assessment systems and processes, including moderation. We support for your senior secondary kaiako to review assessment systems and processes including moderation.
We can work responsively with you and your staff as part of this PLD.
Your aromatawai PLD may include:
in-class support of kaiako to affirm and analyse own teaching practice in relation to ākonga learning
modelling mentoring conversations for pouako that aim to support kaiako and grow their teaching practice
workshops for all staff to build their knowledge of aromatawai and how ākonga can be activated in the construction of meaningful learning pathways
support for staff on the assessment and evaluation of meaningful learning pathways
support to strengthen assessment of ākonga, the collation and use of aggregated assessment information.
How we work with you
Tailored to your needs. No two kura or kāhui ako are the same. Our consultants will design support that’s just right for you.
Inquiry driven. We use a pakirehua approach to grow and improve the individual and collective capability of kaiako.
Informed by research and practice. We draw on our extensive knowledge of educational policy and practice. We use key documents such as Tatāiako. Cultural capability is the backbone of aromatawai and underpins our professional support.
In class modelling. We are comfortable in the classroom, modelling high-impact strategies, across the curriculum.
Evaluative. We develop indicators of success with you so that we can collectively track progress.
