Of Tainui, Te Rarawa and Croatian descent, Micheal is a principal advisor leading a team who support tūmuaki/principals across Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Taitokerau regions.
Michael has over 25+ years of international and domestic experience in:
education policy and practice
schooling improvement
professional leadership
research and development
marketing and keynote presentations
curriculum review, learning and development
Iwi and community consultation
Ministry of Education statutory management, and
Education and Iwi strategic development.
Micheal has worked in places such as Qatar, Oman, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Nauru and Australia. He has delivered professional learning and development in the primary, secondary, tertiary sector and with Ministries of Education.
Micheal has held teaching and school leadership roles across New Zealand; most recently as principal of a state integrated Islamic Special Character school in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
Throughout his career, Micheal has been recognised for his strong relational approach, his leadership innovation and practice and his expertise as a project leader and director. Micheal has a track record of developing systems, practices and people capability that is authentic to each environment he works in.
Micheal and his wife have a blended family of five adult children and five mokopuna. Spending time with the grandchildren is high on his priority list. Micheal enjoys going to live events and theatre; having himself performed in several theatre productions. He loves music, reading, and watching movies; especially those with great movie soundtracks.
