Julie is passionate about the revitalisation of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, and the realisation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in its fullest sense for the wellbeing of all New Zealanders. Their studies in te reo, indigenous ways of knowing, and decolonisation, equip them to bring a critical lens and voice to kaupapa.
Julie began their tertiary studies with a BSc in Neuroscience, followed by a DipGrad in Māori Studies. They have since completed a Diploma in Te Pīnakitanga ki te reo Kairangi (L7) with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
Since beginning their work with educational web content in 2016, Julie has been involved with content loading and maintenance for the Te Kete Ipurangi sites. Within the Publications team at Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga, and in their role as lead content loader, they manage the migration of content from Te Kete Ipurangi to the refreshed site Tāhūrangi. Their key skills include project and content management systems, team workflow management, and knowledge base development.
In their spare time, Julie enjoys tramping, mahi kai, and spending time with their family at their tūrakawaewae in Murihiku. Julie also runs a record label, trace / untrace records, from their home in Ōtepoti.
