Heather Lewis
Heather is an educational leader with extensive experience. She prioritises the growth and development of students and teachers, while fostering a stimulating, safe, and motivating learning environment. Deeply committed to the principles under te Tiriti o Waitangi, Heather recognises the importance of promoting the growth of Te Ao Māori, te reo Māori, kura, whānau, hapū, iwi, tikanga, and kawa.
Heather works as an education consultant based in our Tamaki Makaurau office. She joins Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga as an experienced facilitator of professional learning. She has worked as a mathematics and assessment for learning facilitator at Cognition Education and formerly at Team Solutions (University of Auckland). She has been the National Leader of Programmes for Students (Accelerating Learning in Mathematics (ALiM) and Mathematics Support Teachers (MST). Heather not only leads a team of PLD consultants at Evaluation Associates, but she also spearheads our evaluation of impact strategy. With her expertise, we can develop robust systems that demonstrate what is working for whom, and why.
Heather is passionate about pedagogies that support high expectations teaching and accelerating learning to raise achievement of ākonga and to reduce disparity.

Heather's passion for mathematics and statistics has taken her to present at numerous conferences and symposia both in New Zealand and abroad. Her vast knowledge and expertise in these subjects has enabled her to share her insights and experiences with educators from all corners of the globe.
Heather is married to Nick and has three daughters who are both studying and exploring the world. She enjoys long walks on the beach with the dog, cooking and entertaining.
