Bruce Warren
Bruce Warren joined the principal advisors’ team from his role as principal at Mairangi Bay School. He joins a dedicated team and works primarily to support beginning principals. He also works with experienced principals facilitating learning though Professional Learning Group meetings and with individual principals when requested.
With over 30 years’ experience in school leadership and 23 years as principal, Bruce’s focus is on providing targeted, tailored and timely support to principal colleagues. He is trained in the use of coaching for success. His approach is to work alongside people.
His varied experiences include principalship in both contributing and full primary schools, teaching in the UK on Commonwealth exchange, working in Auckland schools as ICT advisor, and taking part in principal delegations to China and South Korea. He has completed sabbatical research into how principals prioritise their time to visit classrooms and how the use of technology can improve principal efficacy. He was President of the North Shore Principals’ Association and continues on its Executive. He was humbled to be made a Fellow of the Auckland Primary Schools Association for service to the profession.
Education forms a big part of Bruce’s life, as his wife is also a teacher. They are the parents of three adult children. Away from things education, he is found singing barbershop, blo-karting, and swinging a golf club.
