Leading Adult Learning Project Lead

Mel is an education consultant and project leader based in our Christchurch office. She works with leaders in the following areas:

  • leadership growth through team effectiveness

  • effective communication through Joan Dalton’s Learning Talk Books

  • facilitation of high impact learning through quality learning design – both online and face to face

  • learner agency

  • professional growth.

Mel has supported the growth of leaders and leadership teams both nationally and internationally through in-depth and collaborative professional learning.  She currently supports several schools and kāhui ako across New Zealand. She is driven by her desire to enable others to engage in thoughtful, rigorous, learning-focused conversations. She is committed to strengthening leadership effectiveness in ways that lead directly to student success and learning improvement.

Based in Christchurch (New Zealand), Mel is the national team leader for Leading Adult Learning, a leadership coach, and a highly skilled facilitator of adult learning both online and face to face.

Mel is also the project leader for Unlocking Potential: Principal Preparation program. In this role she leads the partnership between Evaluation Associates, Joan Dalton, David Anderson, and the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in Australia.

An evaluation of principals, senior and middle leaders and resource teachers of learning and behaviour at the Piritahi Kāhui Ako in Marlborough was conducted in 2022 capturing the voices of 17 staff who had been part of a Leading Adult Learning programme.  This showcase reflects the attendees of the sessions offering insight into the impact of participation in the Leading Adult Learning programme.
