Years 0-6 MAP - Webinar (term 2)

Webinar (term 2)

Targeted Teaching and Scaffolding for Acceleration

This 60-minute webinar supports MATs and classroom teachers in adapting teaching to meet diverse learning needs without lowering the expectations.

Designed for both MATs and classroom teachers, the session demonstrates practicable ways to accelerate student learning and supports teachers to effectively integrate the modules into students’ regular classroom settings.

The webinar will emphasise

  • targeted teaching approaches (pre-teaching, scaffolding, modelling, and guided practice) to support acceleration without lowering expectations

  • scaffolding prerequisite concepts and making explicit links to NZC number progressions to strengthen mathematical understanding

  • the use of explicit instruction and formative assessment to identify learning needs and accelerate progress within year-level content

  • practical strategies for integrating supplementary modules into classroom programmes to sustain and extend student acceleration
