Build your cultural capability with this one-day introduction to Niho Taniwha.

This workshop will explore the Niho Taniwha model - a kaupapa Māori inquiry journey - and give you an opportunity to unpack some of the capabilities required to support ākonga Māori to thrive.

Over the course of the day, Dr Melanie Riwai-Couch's acclaimed book, Niho Taniwha, will be brought to life through engaging and thought-provoking professional learning. Our expert facilitation team from Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga will be delivering this mahi.

Who is this for?

Teacher aides, school teachers and leaders.

NOTE: Mana whenua are more than welcome to attend the workshops with you. Please contact us on info@evaluate.co.nz if you would like to invite hapū or iwi Māori to share in your school’s journey to improve teaching and learning for ākonga Māori.  We can arrange a place for free. 

Teacher aides

Niho Taniwha is equally available to teacher aides at the grades A, B, C and D; covering competencies of inclusion and cultural competence. The 10% discount is not available to teacher aides.

Teacher aides who have applied for funding from the Ministry of Education. Please note you will NOT be able to enrol unless you have received your teacher aides' application reference number (ARN). This number is needed to register for this course.

If you have not applied for Ministry funding, please follow the process on the Ministry of Education's website

Your Investment

$360.00 ex GST per person or a 10% discount applies for three or more educators from the same school or kura.
