At this half-day workshop, specialist facilitators will focus on supporting kaiako to deliver the revised Mathematics and Statistics learning area for Years 0–8 with a particular focus on:
Teaching within the year level – Explore how to plan and deliver learning that ensures all students engage with the full sequence of statements for their year level, as outlined in the revised curriculum.
Learn how to plan and deliver year-level learning that ensures all students engage with the full sequence of statements for their year level, as outlined in the refreshed curriculum.
Explore how to use acceleration approaches – targeted, timely supports that help students catch up, keep up, and move ahead and discover how to extend students who are ready for greater challenge through enrichment opportunities.
Meeting the challenges of composite classrooms – Explore case studies and examples from schools across Aotearoa on how to effectively implement the curriculum in multi-level settings.
Work with peers to develop practical strategies and flexible planning approaches and grouping techniques that support coherent learning progressions.
Session objectives:
Understand the revised Mathematics and Statistics learning area for Years 0–8, with a focus on teaching to the year level.
Explore practical strategies for inclusive planning that supports all students, including those needing extension or additional acceleration support.
Gain insights into effective approaches for implementing the curriculum in composite classrooms, using real-world examples and case studies from New Zealand schools.
Collaborate with peers to share challenges and successes in delivering the revised curriculum in diverse school settings.
Build confidence and capability in using the curriculum to design coherent, inclusive, and responsive mathematics and statistics programmes.
Target audience:
Exclusively for teachers and school leaders at schools that have subscribed to and are using Oxford Mathematics and Statistics for Aotearoa New Zealand at their schools in 2026.
Cost:
This workshop is provided free of charge and is exclusively for schools that have subscribed and are using Oxford Mathematics and Statistics for Aotearoa New Zealand. Places are limited, so early registration is recommended.

To ensure maximum participation there is an attendance limit of three teachers per school, one ticket = one registration
