The role:

We are looking to appoint a Business Development and Innovation Manager to help us grow our services so we can help raise achievement in schools and kura across Aotearoa, and beyond. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and knows how to get things done.

Reporting to the Strategic Development Manager you will be responsible for the comprehensive management of projects that drive the company's strategic business development and innovation (BDI) initiatives. This position will have a strategic and operational focus.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Strategic Development Manager, National Managers, project leads, and the wider Business Development and Innovation team to support the marketing and sales of our products and services, and to help grow our impact across the sector.

You will need to bring your recent educational experience to this growth and development role. We are looking for someone who is deeply familiar with New Zealand schools and kura. Experience as a facilitator or education consultant is preferred, along with some experience in marketing, sales, or business development — or a strong interest in developing these skills.

About you:

  • You know education. You understand the NZ education system and key policy documents such as The New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Ka Hikitia Ka Hāpaitia, Tau Mai Te Reo, Tū Rangatira, Tātaiako, Pasifika Education Plan, Ministry statement of strategic intent, Ministry of Education PLD priorities and intent, and key web-based resources such as Tāhūrangi.

  • You have a strategic mindset – you're skilled in developing long-term strategies that align with company goals, recognising emerging market trends, and positioning the company for growth.

  • You have a strong commitment to bringing effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • You are an organiser extraordinaire – you have great systems for managing your own work and the work of others.

  • You have a broad sense of marketing. You understand it is about helping our customers to get their jobs done and recognise the parts required to get there.

  • You are motivated by ways to improve outcomes for educators. You’re excited by products and services that will help them.

  • You keep balls in the air. You can handle multiple projects simultaneously, keeping a hold of a high-level overview and detailed knowledge of specifics.

  • You are client-focused. You ensure that our clients experience our services well and want to continue to work with us.

  • You foster innovation – you lead by example in encouraging creativity and innovative thinking within your teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation.

  • You’re a manager who is happy to get stuck into the work. You know when to take a leadership role and when to focus on completing tasks.
