As Kaihautū Māori, Bobby serves as our strategic advisor Māori, guiding Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga to embed mātauranga Māori, tikanga, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi across all aspects of our work. He provides cultural and strategic leadership across the executive and senior leadership teams, Niho Taniwha, and Te Korowai Māori. Bobby’s ao Māori approach strengthens our collective efforts to identify and address disparity, enable equity, elevate indigenous knowledge and culture, and support decolonisation – ensuring that Māori perspectives and priorities are central to the direction of our company. 

Bobby is approved to deliver Ministry of Education PLD in the following area: 

  • Aromatawai 

He has expertise and experience in: 

  • Raising Māori achievement and developing cultural capability 

  • Te reo Māori, te ao Māori me ōna tīkanga 

  • Leading genuine partnership with iwi and hapū 

  • Connecting people, places and minds 

  • Teaching as inquiry 

  • Developing safe learning communities 

  • Strategic planning and delivery 

As a Ministry of Education approved facilitator in aromatawai, Bobby supports kura and schools to design aromatawai systems that honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, uplift identity, and provide meaningful evidence of learning. He is known for his ability to create safe spaces where ākonga, whānau, kaiako, and leaders can connect, inquire, and grow together.

An experienced secondary teacher and leader, Bobby has deep expertise in physical education, health, te reo Māori, and te ao Māori. Most recently he served as Kaitiaki Deputy Principal at Ōtūmoetai College, where he worked in close partnership with mana whenua, Ngāi Tamarāwaho and Ngāti Ranginui, to lead a major transformation that embedded iwi aspirations into the heart, systems, and structures of the school.

Bobby is also an active member of the Professional Learning Association New Zealand (PLANZ), contributing to the promotion of excellence in professional learning and development in schools and kura across the motu.

Grounded in his whakapapa and living in Tauranga Moana, Bobby is a kaupapa-driven kaitiaki committed to advancing whānau, hapū, and iwi aspirations and striving for equity in society. He believes lasting change is achieved when place, relationships, culture, aspirations and evidence of learning are interwoven to serve both equity and excellence.
