Professional coaching for secondary leaders pilot
A pilot programme for secondary principals and senior leaders
Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga is partnering with the Secondary Principals’ Council and the PPTA to provide an online professional coaching.
We coach PPTA members in leadership. This will either be through one-on-one sessions or professional learning groups. We will support principals and senior leaders across Māori, English and dual-medium settings.
Our professional coaching is an inquiry into practice. It is a compassionate, appreciative inquiry, led by the needs of the participant. Our coaching aims to support good leadership practice and well-being. We do this by reducing isolation and providing the opportunity to:
discuss professional issues
explore ways to improve practice.
Professional learning groups
Our professional learning groups (PLGs) draw on the principles of collaboration and reciprocal coaching. Each PLGs has four or five leaders. They develop their professional practice through collaborative inquiry and reciprocal coaching. Each group co-constructs their collaborative inquiry areas of focus.
Our coaching team
We have a large team of experienced former principals and senior leaders working who work to support leaders in this pilot. Our coaches bring professional educational expertise and credibility along with well-developed coaching skills and a coaching disposition. They draw on their Leading by Learning skills when coaching. Their work builds on the strengths of the individual.
How to access this pilot?
Participants were invited to submit an expression of interest in this pilot project. We then went through a process to select participants for one-on-one support and the professional learning groups. All places have been filled for the pilot. However, we are happy to discuss with you whether you or your team would benefit from similar support.
