Renée works as an education consultant based in our Ōtautahi Christchurch office. She works with schools in the following areas:
mathematics and statistics
assessment for learning
local curriculum and assessment design
teaching as inquiry for accelerated learning.
Renée is highly passionate about mathematics and statistics education. She has strong pedagogical knowledge which is based on research and practical experience. Renée achieved her Masters of Education (first class honours) with a focus on mathematics and leadership. Her research inquired into effective mathematics pedagogy and teaching practices with a focus on task selection, assessment and building teacher knowledge. Renée believes a rich, balanced mathematics programme should include explicit teaching and inquiry, provide authentic and meaningful contexts that promote engagement, and allow opportunities for learners to work collaboratively and individually.
Before working as a facilitator, Renée taught across primary and intermediate year levels and held different leadership positions. Renée has experience with increasing student agency through localised curriculum design, as well as effectively selecting and utilising a wide range of digital technologies to enhance and transform teaching practice. Renée is passionate about engaging students to have a greater voice and choice by co-constructing learning through self-drive and self-regulation.
Outside of the work Renée enjoys early morning gym sessions, heading away with family and friends, and being outdoors.
