Matthew Thorpe

Matthew is our marketing lead based in Auckland. He’s recently joined our team to help us achieve our growth ambitions through marketing. 

Matthew has marketing experience in several categories from financial services, transport, telecommunications, public health, utilities and education.  Most relevant to Evaluation Associates | Te Huinga Kākākura Mātauranga were his roles as Director of Marketing at Unitec and Marketing Manager at Oceania Career Academy. 

Matthew’s strengths lie in his ability to lead teams in launching new brands and products. He understands what clients need and making sure that what we offer continues to help them to exceed their expectations.  

He has a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and an MA Marketing from the University of Kingston. 

When asked how he has managed a career over so many different categories and business types he replies, “wherever I work the focus has always been about people”. “Whether it is colleagues or customers the key is always empathy and authenticity”.  “Surprisingly…”, he continues “companies as different as American Express, Unitec and Auckland Transport have more in common than you may imagine”. 

Born in London – within a stones throw of his beloved Chelsea FC – Matthew is married to a kiwi from the Waikato and has two children.
