Cleve Shearer
Cleve is a principal advisor for schools in the Nelson & West Coast regions, working primarily with beginning principals.
He has years of successful experience as a teacher and leader in a range of urban and rural primary and intermediate schools. He previously was principal at Waimea Intermediate for almost 16 years, leading it through a period of significant change.
Cleve has a strong interest in leading through change to enhance outcomes for all students, across an integrated meaningful curriculum. Raising the achievement of all is the priority, including overcoming the challenges faced by students who are not responding to school as expected.
Cleve and his wife have three adult children who occasionally return home to Nelson! His interests are in the outdoors, community and the arts, especially visual art and contemporary New Zealand drama. His passion for the outdoors is currently focused on downhill mountain biking but includes other peddling platforms and sea kayaking around the beautiful Top of the South.
