Assessment in rumaki and bilingual units
Are you a principal or senior leader in a predominantly English-medium school wanting to get your head around how assessment in rumaki and bilingual units works?
This workshop is designed to give you the knowledge you need to support your unit leaders as they implement Rukuhia Rarangahia, Ngā Whanaketanga Rumaki Māori, Te Waharoa Ararau. We’ll cover the practical considerations that need to be made, including how time in and level of immersion impacts on making overall teacher judgements. We’ll also cover how Māori-medium units can use the existing frameworks and resources to monitor and describe the progress of akonga in the unit. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for you to ask questions and explore how different schools approach school-wide assessment in English-medium and Māori-medium classes.
Workshop facilitators are Ruth Tate and Aroha Heaslip. They both have many years of experience in English-medium and Māori-medium kura. They are assessment for learning facilitators and have particular expertise in the area of supporting units within English-medium settings.
Workshops will run from 9am to 3pm.
Cost: $299.00 plus GST
Morning tea and lunch are provided, as are all resources.
