Nadine Sorrensen
Nadine is a PLD consultant based in Auckland, working across Aotearoa to support schools in strengthening assessment and literacy practices.

Nadine brings over 25 years of experience in education, including ten years as a classroom teacher and sixteen years as a facilitator.
Nadine has extensive experience in assessment for learning with a strong focus on building teacher content knowledge and strengthening pedagogy to support dependable judgements about student learning. She has facilitated workshops on moderation, Curriculum Progress Tools (PaCT and LPF), and culturally responsive assessment practices. Her work reflects a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and the use of assessment to enhance outcomes for all learners.
In literacy, Nadine brings a wealth of knowledge grounded in structured literacy approaches and the science of learning. She is a Ministry approved structured literacy facilitator and has led PLD across multiple regions, supporting teachers to embed explicit teaching, phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, and vocabulary instruction into their literacy classroom practice. Nadine has also played a pivotal role in mentoring teachers through the Accelerating Learning in Literacy (ALL) programme, helping them link assessment data to curriculum expectations and scaffold learning for diverse ākonga.
Nadine holds a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning, and IDA accredited Cox Campus Structured Literacy Program certification.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, movies, and watching house renovation shows.
