Aroha works as an education consultant, based in Tauranga. She works with schools in the following areas:

  • Aromatawai/Rukuhia Rarangahia

  • assessment for learning

  • Tumaki and management

  • mentoring and coaching school leaders and leadership teams

  • inquiry planning with teachers and leaders.

Aroha facilitates Aromatawai/Assessment for learning in Māori-medium kura, with a focus on developing teaching and assessment practices to improve learning and achievement for all learners.

Aroha’s support and leadership experience in both English and Māori-medium settings means that she is able to effectively provide tailored support to school leadership and kaiako in a variety of contexts. She supports school leaders and teachers to use assessment information to plan and teach effectively, and to strengthen how they use inquiry to enable student success and to embed sustainable practices.

Aroha has a background in teaching and leadership in international and New Zealand secondary schools, advisory with The University of Waikato and the Ministry of Education. While with the Ministry of Education her role as a Student Achievement Function Practitioner allowed her to support schools to improve educational outcomes for students. She has a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Waikato.

Aroha loves going to church, spending time with her whānau, and watching New Zealand films.
