Jacqui works as an education consultant based in Blenheim. Her consultancy area is the top of the South Island, including Marlborough, Nelson, Tasman and Buller.
She works with schools in the following areas:
- Assessment for learning
- Teaching as inquiry
- Leadership - mentoring and coaching school leaders and leadership teams
- Effective and innovative (modern) teaching + learning practices
- Strategic thinking and planning
Jacqui has extensive expertise in facilitating professional development. She has worked as a leadership and assessment facilitator for a number of years. Prior to this she specialised in the area of literacy as a facilitator of the highly successful Literacy Professional Development Project, working with Helen Timperley around facilitating effective professional learning and using practice analysis conversations. Jacqui has been a teacher, a principal and she has lectured and coordinated seminars for educators at the Dunedin College of Education.
Jacqui enjoys supporting effective leadership that places learners and learning at the centre and uses evidence informed inquiry to lead and improve learning within schools. She supports schools to plan strategically and to develop and embed coherent processes and systems that improve teaching and learning. Jacqui helps leaders and teachers with the types of conversations they need to use as they inquire and learn together to build their adaptive expertise.
Jacqui has a deep understanding of effective pedagogy, especially in reading and writing. Her facilitation strengths include supporting schools to focus on learners and learning by developing an inquiry habit of mind and using all assessments purposefully for learning. She has an extensive knowledge of key resources and research which she is keen to share to help others make connections and build their knowledge, understanding and pedagogy.
In her spare time Jacqui loves to read, go to movies and catch up with friends and family. She enjoys travelling to family in the UK and she attempts to fit in regular visits to the gym.
