We go beyond theory. We make a real difference to practice.
Here is one example of how we might work with the senior leadership team of a school to improve their leadership and the teaching practice in the school.
We plan the overall approach with you, based on your experience and identified needs, and our experience of what does make a difference.
We design ways to assess current teacher practice and agree on any tools or rubrics used to make these assessments.
We observe or video a selection of teachers’ practice and analyse this practice in terms of the agreed tools/rubrics, thus developing a profile of teacher capability, strengths and needs.
We review a theory for giving effective feedback to colleagues.
Using one teacher's information we analyse the teacher’s strengths and next steps in terms of agreed rubrics and role play giving feedback to that teacher. Support is provided to each senior leader until all feel confident that they can do it skillfully.
We develop a plan to roll out your capability for coaching, scaffolding and modelling to your staff. We set some targets for what improved teaching should look like as a result. We agree to review the approach at agreed intervals.
Options and costs
Most schools have severe budget constraints. This model can be broken down into manageable components. Our role is not to do the work but to support you to do it – and to hold you to account for doing it.
For this work our rate is $150 per hour +GST.
