Assessment for learning workshops

This is a series of three workshops spread across terms 1, 2 and 3. The series will take participants through the key principles of assessment for learning, providing an overview of the student and teacher capabilities outlined in Clarity in the Classroom (Michael Absolum, 2006).

The series is ideal for all teachers and leaders who wish to further their understanding of assessment for learning, or review their current capability. It may also be of particular interest for new teachers to schools which have embedded formative practice, or beginning teachers who wish to deepen their understanding.

At these workshops you will learn how to:

  • develop learning focused relationships in classrooms
  • have shared clarity with students about what is to be learnt
  • gather and share assessment information with students
  • use assessment information to inform teaching and learning
  • review the quality of assessment and reporting systems
  • give effective feedback that closes the gap between what students know and what they need to know
  • teach students to reflect on their learning and their engagement in learning
  • assist students to have shared clarity about their next learning steps.

The workshops are full of practical ideas and resources which support the theory and principles of assessment for learning. There will be sufficient flexibility in the workshops to address current assessment issues relevant to participants.

Between each workshop participants will have the opportunity to practise new strategies and receive on-line support from facilitators.

Please note, registration is for all three workshops.  Participants do not need to register separately for each workshop in the series.

The charge for the series of three workshops is $750.00. An invoice will be sent on registration.
