Michael Absolum MSC (Hons), Dip Ed Psych (Hons), Dip Tchg
Michael is the director of Evaluation Associates, with a background in teaching, educational psychology and ERO. He is skilled at evaluation, at supporting teachers, leaders and facilitators to build professional capability, and at enabling schools to develop evaluative systems and processes. Schools frequently request his support for senior management appointments and appraisals, school review and strategic planning. He is recognised for his contribution to the NZ assessment community and to the literature on quality teaching and learning. His dedication to improving student achievement is appreciated by educationalists throughout the country.

Sarita Pereira
Sarita, just completed a commercial law degree, is the Evaluation Associates' office manager. All aspects of the office management are in her capable hands. She has previous experience in the world of finance, which gives her the skills needed to provide administrative support to all consultants, both in the office and out at schools. Sarita is responsible for accounting systems and processes in the office, and is involved in data management, organisation of workshops and appraisal support.

Judy Munro-Keene MEd Man, BEd, Dip Tchg
Judy comes from a background which includes teaching and managing at primary, intermediate and secondary levels. Now in her seventh year with the company she provides professional development in Assessment for Learning in Auckland and the Waikato in mainstream and special schools. She also is leading the Narrative Assessment Project for ORRS students. She is recognised by the schools she has worked with as having excellent facilitation skills, broad curriculum knowledge and a deep understanding of Assessment for Learning.

Sue Leslie PG Dip Bus & Admin, BSc (Hons), Dip Tchg
Sue has a background in secondary science and senior management. She brings a range of skills and experience to the team including leadership, data analysis and support, and assessment for learning in secondary schools. Sue uses her excellent knowledge of assessment tools to work with clusters of schools to collate and analyse their data to improve student achievement. She also works with leaders and senior management teams to evaluate and improve their practice especially in using evidence and promoting good communication and relationships. She assists all curriculum areas of secondary schools with effective teaching and learning practices.

Adrienne Carlisle BA, Dip Tchg
Adrienne’s background is in secondary English teaching and middle management. She brings to the team an abiding interest in language and literature, unshakeable confidence in their educative value, and pedantic editing skills. She works with secondary schools in the Auckland and Waikato regions to develop their Assessment for Learning capability, and provides skilled support for schools in the use of the e- asTTle assessment tool and the analysis of student achievement data. She also helps maintain the Assessment Community for the MoE website, TKI.

Allan Powell BMusEd, Dip Tchg
Allan has a background in classroom and music specialist teaching, and school middle management, with a particular interest and strength in Literacy teaching and learning. He works with schools and clusters of schools in a number of areas including assessment for learning capability, leadership capability, effective communication and feedback, and school review. He also has expertise in analysing student achievement data for schools, writing data reports and designing intervention strategies to raise student achievement.

Barbara-Anne Alexander Dip Tchg
Barbara-Anne has many years experience as a classroom teacher and team leader in the primary sector, supporting colleagues as effective practitioners. Her strengths are in Literacy and building learning-focused relationships at all levels of the school. She is currently completing her B.Ed at Auckland University. Barbara-Anne facilitates Assessment for Learning in schools and clusters, and she is passionate about building professional learning communities in and across schools. She is also skilled in the use of asTTle and using data to inform teaching and learning.

Jay Baththana BSc
Jay is the data analyst at Evaluation Associates, at present completing an honours degree in statistics. He uses software such as Excel, SPSS and Access to produce snapshot, trend, graphical and tabular reports on student achievement data from schools. The job also involves collecting and cleaning data to make it suitable for analysis and producing written commentary to explain the analysis for teachers and schools.

Kathryn Eltringham BA, DipTchg, Dip Tchg ICT, NPQH
Kathryn has a range of experience in management, teaching and learning within primary education in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Her particular curriculum strengths are in ICT, Literacy and Science. She is currently undertaking study at the University of Auckland towards a Master’s Degree. Kathryn facilitates an EHSAS project, working with a cluster of Auckland’s Inner-City Schools to raise student achievement through use of the Assessment for Learning capabilities. She also has expertise in the use of the e-asTTle assessment tool and analysis of student achievement data.

Brenda Weal MSc, Adv Dip Tchg, Dip Home Ec Ed
Brenda brings to Evaluation Associates a broad range of experience in primary teaching, specialist teaching in Technology, lecturing and facilitating. Her postgraduate studies focused on educational partnerships between schools and outside teaching providers. She joined the company in March this year and works mainly with schools on Assessment for Learning contracts. She also supports schools with the Technology curriculum and provides guidance in the implementation of the New Zealand Curriculum.
