Literacy

Evaluation Associates has considerable experience and expertise in literacy professional development. Our consultants work in schools to enhance the capacity for schools and teachers to improve student achievement in reading and writing. 

Literacy professional development involves:

• support for teachers to use literacy pedagogical practices shown to best enhance student achievement
• support for schools to integrate systems and structures to support literacy teaching and learning
• assistance with the use of assessment tools to measure student achievement in literacy
• assistance with the analysis of achievement data
• helping schools and teachers to share assessment information with students and families
• the co-construction of 'next step' literacy teaching arising from assessment information

Our consultants are all former teachers with a range of expertise in the teaching of literacy including post graduate studies in literacy acquisition, Reading Recovery, second language literacy teaching and secondary English teaching.
