Assessment for Learning Seminar Programme

For the primary AtoL schools in the Auckland area, Evaluation Associates runs seminars throughout the year to teach and develop aspects of the AtoL professional development programme. The seminars are attended by Lead Teachers, Programme Managers and Principals, at times all together and sometimes as separate groups. First year schools have seven seminars during the year, and second year schools have six. Seminars usually run from 8.30am to 3.30pm, although a few run in the morning only.  The concept of the seminar has several advantages for its participants. They are able to:
  • Work off-site, uninterrupted by the day to day workings of the school.
  • Discuss and debate ideas with colleagues
  • Share ideas between schools, and learn from the experiences of others
  • Take time to reflect and assimilate new learning
  • Learn from invited speakers who can give first-hand accounts of their experiences
Induction Workshops

Evaluation Associates will hold three induction workshops in 2009. Schools which have already been on the AtoL contract find these workshops particularly useful for bringing new staff up to date with Assessment for Learning expectations and for supporting the sustainability of its principles and practices. For schools which have not yet been on the AtoL contract, the workshops can give new teachers an understanding of Assessment for Learning in preparation for later in-depth professional development.

Narrative Assessment Seminars

A number of seminars will be held in 2009 and the beginning of 2010 for those teachers and associated professionals involved in the Narrative Assessment Project. Schedules of dates are available for Phase 1 and Phase 2 teachers in the resources box on the right hand side of this page, or on the Narrative Assessment page here.
