Strengthening Local Curriculum Design
The Ministry of Education has become aware through the curriculum progress and achievement consultation that many schools and kura do not have the confidence to design their own local curriculum. Therefore, Evaluation Associates and CORE Education have been contracted by the Ministry to provide English and Māori-medium workshops and clinics on Strengthening Local Curriculum Design over Terms 1 - 2 in 2019.
Schools have an exciting opportunity to be supported as they develop their local curriculum.
The support takes two forms:
- regionally based two-hour workshops in Term One. Each school may send a principal and curriculum leader. The workshops will be led by experienced primary and secondary facilitators.
- on-site clinics comprising two days of in-school support with the leadership team and an after-school session.
We will formatively evaluate the impact of the workshops and on-site clinics through participation surveys. The Ministry will also conduct an external evaluation of the workshops and on-site clinics.
